TYRE TOWN JUSTICE COURT – IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Due to COVID-19 protocols, effective 02-22-21, the Tyre Town Court will be hearing some cases in person and some virtually.
Any Criminal matters will be handled virtually or adjourned (by mail) to a future date.
Civil matters will be adjourned to a future date.
Summary Proceedings and Evictions will be heard by the Special COVID Intervention Part (SCIP) of the Seneca County Court, with paperwork to be completed at Tyre Town Court office.
Traffic matters will be handled by mail with the following options:
You may plead “guilty as charged” by mail and the Judge will set the fine and send a notice to you.
You may plead “not guilty” and request a bench trial – this will be adjourned to a future date.
You may plead “not guilty” and communicate with the Seneca County District Attorney by mail concerning an alternate disposition. The District Attorney will not be holding in-person conferences regarding routine traffic matters. Your “not guilty” plea must be sent to the Court.

The District Attorney will send a reduction offer to you. If it is acceptable, sign it and return
it to the Tyre Town Court.
You have the right to be represented by an attorney at each and every step of your case and may request an adjournment to retain an attorney at any time.
