Public Notice – Complete Broadband Survey ASAP
NYS has extended the deadline of the survey and speed test they employed as part of the NYS Broadband Assessment Program. This project is aimed to better understand your experience with and access to broadband. Seneca County is urging all residents to complete this survey to ensure accurate representation of broadband needs within our community. This information will have a direct impact on our ability to secure funding to improve broadband in our community, especially for the more rural and unserved areas of Seneca County.
I am asking all Tyre residents to complete this survey and to encourage all of your family and friends to complete it as well. For many people, broadband access and service is increasingly a part of everyday life. The COVID-19 pandemic only magnified this need. Many students are now learning from home, more people are working from home, and even seeing a doctor “virtually” is becoming more common.
Please visit www.senecacountybroadband.com to complete the survey and speed test. The speed test measures how fast your Internet connection is from your home or business. This part takes less than a minute. It is important that you take this part of the survey on a computer or tablet that is in your home or office, and that it is NOT on the cellular network. If you want to take the survey from your cell phone, please choose to complete the survey only and skip the speed test. The survey is a series of questions, for either home or business, which asks about whether a respondent has Internet access, and how they use it (or would use it). This part takes about five minutes to complete.
If you would prefer to fill out a paper survey, please call the toll-free broadband assessment line at 1-855-NYBBMAP (1-855-692-2627) to receive a paper copy mailed to your home. Alternatively, you can also pick up a copy at the Tyre Municipal Building at 1082 Gravel Road, Seneca Falls, NY 13148.
By participating in this survey, Seneca County will gain a better understanding about the issues relating to broadband availability for our residents and this information will have a direct impact on our ability to secure funding for broadband in our community.
I sincerely thank you for taking the time to complete this survey.
